We enjoyed seven days at the President Hotel after our Danube Waltz river cruise.  The President is a mid-rise property loaded with a pleasing urban vibe, great service, and upscale accommodations. Located on the Old Town side of the Vltava River, the President offers a picture perfect view of the river and Prague Castle.

Great Location

Because the President is situated right on the edge of Prague’s Medieval Old Town, it was only a half-mile or less on foot to attractions such as the Old Town Square, Astronomical Clock, Jewish Quarter and the high-end retail of Parizska Street.  To connect with public transportation we crossed over the Vltava to the Čechův Most Light Rail station. Čechův Most is a hub for several routes on Prague’s excellent public transport system. Trams run frequently and we only waited a few minutes to catch our tram.  TIP: the President’s helpful concierge staff sell inexpensive daily transit passes and give great directions!

Features & Comforts

We splurged a little bit and booked a deluxe room with castle view and were happy with the choice.

President Hotel Guest Report CardWe were impressed with the cool modern décor, awed by the breathtaking views of Prague Castle and wowed by the  spacious 269 square foot room.  Our room was outfitted with a king bed, flat screen TV, coffee maker, mini bar, safe, large double wardrobe, an easy chair and a spacious upholstered window seat. I’ve dreamed of having a window seat since I was a little girl and this seat was a dream come true because of its great view of the Vltava River and Prague Castle.  And it was large enough for two people, seriously, it was large enough and comfortable enough to sleep in!   It was a great place to lounge and spend the early morning hours watching the sun come up and planning the day’s activities.

Enjoying the window seat

The bathroom was large and well-appointed with towel warmers, blow dryers and toiletries.  Our only minor concern about the bathroom was the shower over soaking tub configuration. It required a giant step into, and out of the tub, which felt a little awkward.

Public Areas

We loved the modern style open lobby enclosed  with floor to ceiling windows and studded with comfortable seating pits and a baby grand piano.  We spent a few evenings dreamily looking at the city lights while enjoying a beverage from the full bar and listening to the piano man play.

Restaurants

The Restaurant Vltava serves lunch and dinner. We tried the mushroom risotto there for lunch once and it was delicious.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and it was varied and enormous! The buffet included breads, pancakes, danish, spreads, beverages, fruits, cereals, meats, grilled veggies, cheeses and cooked-to-order eggs. The breakfast area was very spacious and pleasant and was conducive to striking up conversations with fellow travelers. We met a lovely couple from York, England who gave us some great tips for our upcoming visit to their hometown.

A new restaurant named Elements was under construction while we were there.
